The Killergroove Formula interjú

Az utóbbi években The Killergroove Formula nevû formációjával feltünt münsteri funk-break dj, remixer és producer Lars Moston a Sziget fesztiválos fellépését megelõzõen tette tiszteletét mûsorunkban, ahol egy rakás friss bootleget, megjelenés elõtti és ritka felvételt mixelt össze. A mixelgetés elõtt azért röviden válaszolt kérdéseinkre is.

Mana Mana: Az év elején kiadott Keep On Burnin’ kapcsán figyeltünk fel a munkásságodra, de ugye nem ez volt az elsõ megjelenésed?

Killergroove Formula: Nem, a Malentével közösen volt már egy korábbi maxi, a hamburgi Moonbootique kiadónál Moston & Malente név alatt, az In The Sky, ami az új Ursula 1000 mixlemezen is szerepel.

MM: Kik alkotják a Killergroove Formula tagságát?

KGF: Rajtam kívül két dortmundi srác van még a csapatban, Der Wulf és én vagyunk a formáció dj-i, NDN, pedig MC-ként tevékenykedik. A stúdiómunkákból mindhárman kivesszük a részünket.

MM: Hogyan kezdted, dj-ként, vagy producerként?

KGF: Már 14 évesen elkezdtem a zenekészítést, tehát ez volt korábban. Hat éve jelent meg az elsõ saját maxim, ami egy house cucc volt, a Liquid Records-nál.

MM: Milyen eszközöket használtok a stúdióban?

KGF: Leginkább csak elektronikát, PC-t és vasakat, de néha besegít egy basszeros is.

MM: Hogyan értékeled a Keep On Burnin’ sikerét? Jól sült el?

KGF: Abszolút rendben volt. Összesen 800 példányt nyomtak belõle és ez rövid idõ alatt el is fogyott, két hónapig a német tánczenei Top 20-as listában is benne volt, teljesen elégedett vagyok vele.

MM: Gondolom sokat dobott az ismertségeden.

KGF: Igen, ahogy ide Magyarországra is eljutott a maxi, Ausztráliában és Kanadában is hozzá lehetett jutni és mindenhonnan pozitív visszajelzéseket kaptunk. A közeljövõben több cégnél is jönnek ki lemezeim, némileg ennek is köszönhetõen. Három hete került a boltokba az új Moston & Malente anyag, aztán az új KGF maxi egy francia break kiadónál, a Lab-Rok-nál még augusztusban megjelenik, az album pedig a Lounge Records break alkiadójánál, a MUTO-nál várható 2006 elején.

MM: Hol léptél fel idáig külföldön?

KGF: Belgiumban, Svájcban és a Lab-Rok megjelenés kapcsán nemsokára megyek Franciaországba is.

MM: De van otthoni rezidenciád is ugye?

KGF: A Loonyland nevû kölni klubban játszom havonta. Ez egy elég népszerû hely 1500-2000 ember is megfordul a bulikban.

Interview with The Killergroove Formula

Prior to his gig at Sziget Festival, the Münster-based funk-break DJ, Lars Moston, remixer and producer fronting the up-and-coming The Killergroove Formula, visited our radio show where he mixed a bunch of bootlegs, yet-to-be-released and rare recordings. But before doing so, he answered our questions.

Mana Mana: We first heard your name in connection with Keep On Burnin’, which was released at the beginning of this year. But it wasn`t your first release, was it ?

Killergroove Formula: No, I`d already had a maxi with Malente with the Hamburg based Moonboutique label by the name of Moston & Malente called In The Sky, which appears on the new Ursula 1000 mixalbum, too.

MM: Who constitutes Killergroove Formula ?

KGF: Besides me, there are 2 other guys from Dortmund. Der Wulf and I are the DJs, NDN is the MC. We all take part in the studio workings.

MM: How did you start? As a DJ or a producer?

KGF: I started to make music when I was 14, so it came first. My first own maxi came out 6 years ago, which was some house stuff at Liquid Records.

MM: What tools do you use in the studio ?

KGF: Mostly electronic, PC and iron but sometimes a bass player help us out, too.

MM: How do you evaluate the success of Keep On Burnin’? Did it go well?

KGF: It was perfectly alright. 800 copies were pressed from it and they were sold in a short time, it was on the German dance Top 20 chart for 2 months. I`m fully pleased with it.

MM: I guess it has boosted your fame.

KGF: Yes, just as the maxi got to Hungary, it got to Australia and Canada too and I got good critiques from everywhere. In the near future I`ll have some records at several labels, partly due to the above-menntioned success. The new Moston & Malente stuff got to the stores a few days ago, then the new KGF will come out at a French break label called Lab-Rok in August, plus the album can be expected at MUTO which is the break branch label of Lounge Records in early 2006.

MM: Where have you played abroad so far?

KGF: In Belgium, Switzerland, and because of the release of Lab-Rok I`m going to France soon, too.

MM: But you have domestic residence too, don`t you ?

KGF: Yes, I play in a club called Loonyland in Cologne once a month. That`s a pretty popular venue with 1500-2000 people per gig.
